Timekeeping security is more than a location pin. ShiftFence combines site checks, controlled access and a reviewable history of attendance changes.

Server-side geofencing

The phone requests a fresh location at each punch; the server calculates the distance from the assigned site and checks the scheduled shift. Optional on-shift check-ins require worker consent and an open app. A closed or locked phone may stop them; GPS alone cannot prove a person’s identity or continuous presence.

Tamper-evident time records

Recorded punches are append-only. When a correction is approved, a new linked record is added without erasing the original. Attempted punches and decisions leave an audit trail.

Company data separation

Each company has a separate workspace. Access controls check company membership and role before sensitive actions, with database-level rules restricting reads between companies.

Encryption and private files

Connections use HTTPS encryption in transit. The managed database and storage protect data at rest; company logos use private storage with limited-time access links.

Accountable actions

Company and platform audit records document important changes and approvals. Time corrections preserve the original punch for review rather than silently rewriting it.

Owner console protection

Owner access requires a verified account and authenticator-based two-factor authentication. Sensitive owner actions are checked on the server and recorded in the platform audit trail.
