How a geofencing time clock works.
You draw a circle around each job site. Workers can only clock in inside it. Here is what owners, supervisors and workers do, step by step. Most teams are running in one afternoon.
For owners & supervisors

Add your sites
Search an address or drop a pin on each lot, post or client site. Set how close workers must be — for example 100 meters.

Add workers & schedule
Create logins for your team, assign shifts, and post open shifts that workers can pick up.

Get alerts
Get no-show, late and missed clock-out notices. Optional on-shift location check-ins can alert you when a reading is off-site, but only while the worker's app stays open.

Run payroll
Download approved hours as PDF, Excel or CSV with overtime already worked out.
For workers
STEP 1
Open your company link
Go to yourcompany.shiftfence.com on your phone and sign in. Add it to your home screen.
STEP 2
Arrive at the site
When you're on site, tap Clock In. Your phone shares your location once for that punch.
STEP 3
Breaks & clock out
Tap Start Break, End Break and Clock Out the same way. Your hours update instantly.
STEP 4
Fix mistakes or an outage
If the service is down, write down your actual start, break and end times. When it returns, send a request for each missed punch with the outage in the reason. A manager reviews it; your original request stays on record.

Off-site check-in alerts
With optional on-shift check-ins enabled and consented to, an off-site reading can notify the worker and manager while the app is open. The manager reviews it and decides what to do.
GPS, not IP address
A VPN changes an internet address, not the phone's GPS reading. Location checks can flag suspicious readings, but no phone-based system can rule out sophisticated spoofing.
